Frequently Asked Questions
 

What materials do you pay for?

CRV Aluminum Cans, Plastic, Glass, Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Radiators, Stainless Steel, Batteries, Insulated Wire.

What materials do you not accept?

Hazardous materials of any kind, materials with PCB's, burnt copper wire, anything with oil or fuel still in it.

What are your hours?

Our recycling center is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Saturday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, and Sunday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Why do you pay more for aluminum cans than other aluminum?

Aluminum cans are made from a higher grade alloy of aluminum.

How much do your containers weigh?

We offer a variety of containers. Each has its weight clearly marked on the side panel.

Why do California recyclers pay more than other states?

California recyclers get paid a processing fee from the state of $.75/lb. That fee is paid for by California taxes.

Do you pick-up?

We do provide pick-up service. Please call our office for details (209) 544-1578.

How often are your scales checked?

As determined by Stanislaus County, Department of Weight and Measures.

Why do you need an ID? What types of ID's do you accept? Why do you take a license plate number?

California requires the following: (1) an Identifying description and weight of the specific material purchased (2) the date, time, and place of the transaction, (3) the seller's name, address, physical description, including gender, height, weight, race, eye and hair color, date of birth, signature and a driver's license number or a photo copy of a valid government issued photo identification card (4) the dollar amount paid (5) The number and state of issuance of the license on the vehicle used to deliver the material (6) the peddler license number or transaction privilege tax number.

Is an expired ID ok to use?

No, once it is expired it is no longer a valid ID.

How often do prices change?

Usually on a weekly basis. However, since all metals are traded market commodities they can change on a daily basis.

What is clean material? What contaminates metal?

Clean material has no other alloys on the metal other than the grade being sold. For example, aluminum cannot have steel screws in the material and be purchased as clean. Contaminants of non-ferrous metals are steel, glass, rubber, and plastic.
